If they weren’t flirting earlier, they definitely were now, Danicka’s posture relaxing all the more as Cian moved closer.

“That depends. Are you the kind of guy that turns into a stalker when he doesn’t get his own way? Because, so far, you seem way more chill than the last guy I got mixed up with.”

“I’m not one for monogamy, much less stalking,” he answered truthfully. It was an uncommon trait for his species, but his mother had been sort of the same way, so he supposed it was genetic.

“Ball’s in your court, hot stuff.”

Of course, he knew she was right, but it stung no less, regardless of the fact that he loved his children dearly and Lyri had been especially instrumental in keeping her father from shutting himself away and cutting himself off completely.

“It just feels so… senseless, I suppose?”

It exhausted him greatly to think about it for too long, making him feel like he was chasing his tail and never getting any closer to resolution.

“Oh honey,” she soothed, gently tugging him into a comforting hug. It made her heart ache to see him looking even remotely upset and, honestly, she hadn’t figured that he and Konis had been quite as serious until after it had ended. 

“Perhaps one day the two of you will be in better places mentally and could try again? It seems you still love her and she is hardly one to let go of her feelings for anyone easily.”

Trent knew what she was up to, but he took it as a challenge anyway, not caring if he was playing right into the honeypot if he got even just a little taste as reward for being so obvious.

Smirking, he trailed his fingertips lightly up Pheme’s inner thigh, deciding to call her bluff. If she caved, he won. If not, he could keep playing chicken until he got what he wanted anyway.

The faint touch was enough to make her shiver and Pheme let him go, wondering just how far he was willing to take that small touch. Still, that didn’t mean she couldn’t taunt him further either.

“Really? That’s it? Still practically nothing,” she purred, sitting up just a bit but still staying pretty fixed in his lap.
