The kiss took her breath away and drew a soft moan from her as she melted against him, no longer giving a fuck that anyone was watching them. It wasn’t like they could prove anything anyway, not with Jeri insisting Chance wasn’t related to him.

One hand curled around the back of her neck while the other slid to her ass as he pulled her flush against him. The way just a kiss could make her moan was enough to make him want to see how far she’d be willing to let him take things right there with a crowd.

“Is anywhere really safe?” he murmured, the ever-present defeated sadness in his smile, sleep deprivation clouding his thought processes enough to let him miss the fact she was clearly implying he should come home with her, even just temporarily.

“My home is warded to keep anyone not related to me out without my permission,” she explained gently as she brushed his hair back a little. “I promise you’ll be safe there with me.”

“Just a port in a storm. Nothing more, nothing less,” Damian answered casually. He wasn’t there on business. That would be a suicide mission out here in the middle of nowhere where he was clearly outnumbered.

“Most of your lot don’t make it past the hounds.” They tended to freak most humans out on a subconscious level. It definitely made Judas more than a little curious.

mythsandmonsters:

“Good thing I don’t keep anything important in that one then, isn’t it?”

Damian had been around the block more than enough times to know not to trust pretty faces bearing alcohol and challenges to drinking competitions, especially in places frequented by the kind of people he usually only crossed paths with when he had much darker business to attend to.

“She’ll be disappointed. Hardly anyone gets the drop on her.”

It was a little bit of a letdown to him as well since he usually enjoyed taunting the people his sister fucked over, but that was neither here nor there. He mostly just liked goading people into taking a swing at him.

“You’re not the usual clientele ‘round here either. What gives?”

Henry (reincarnated)

The last time Ava went to visit the one place Henry had always told her his spirit would find, she actually found him there. After they spoke, he decided it was time to cross over and go for round two. By some chance, he ended up with the same first name and more deja vu than he knew how to handle. This time around, he was born in South Dakota, but it never felt like home. He had memories of places he had never been and the first time he set foot in New Orleans, he finally felt like he was home

Ava does not know he was reincarnated but, despite the new look, she would still recognize him.

“Well I guess I’m already pretty much packed and ready to go,” Rabbit commented, vaguely pointing out that since she’d showed up while he was on his way back from a job, he had everything he was generally comfortable travelling with.

“I mean, if you already cleared everything with Red, there’s not a whole lot else I need to do.”

There was still a hint of anxiety underscoring his tone, but the fact he was opening himself up to the possibility in the first place was progress in letting Vega gain some ground with him.

Smiling sweetly, she held her hands out to him. It was definitely a bit far to drive for a weekend trip and she figured it would be easier to travel this way if he had some control over how much contact it included.

“Dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s,” she chirped, clearly proud of herself for being completely organized with the idea. “And the place is literally a sanctuary, so you’ll be completely safe there.”
