“The more the merrier,” Claudia shrugged, imagining a spaceship that was more or less a passenger jet, stuffed with shady politicians, her brother and Judas, careening straight toward the giant orange fireball.
“Yeah, I don’t think it works that way,” he repeated, eyes rolling as he nudged her a little harder this time. “Quit daydreaming help me find a real solution.”
“Yeah, I guess? Still fucking sucks when it does happen though. It’s kinda hit and miss what can set it off sometimes, but it’s mostly the sunlight thing or if I hurt myself some other way real bad, like if I got hit by a car or something. Fever can trigger it too, but I hardly ever get sick like that, so that’s less of a risk than the other stuff. So far I always come back though, so I guess that means I can’t die die.”
“Wait, how many times have you gone through this?” It sounded like he was speaking from experience and it honestly worried Casper a little. He really didn’t want Laney to have to go through something painful often and if he could have a heads up on triggers for it, he could do his best to prevent it from happening.
