“Yeah, but I don’t think Mom and Dad would be too happy if I dropped out in Sophomore year,” Sera mused, nuzzling at him a little more insistently now that they had some privacy.

“You know what might convince them to let me be homeschooled? I’m pretty sure all it would take was to make them think it was dangerous for me here, like if something happened and you had to protect me from some of the assholes that stare at me and make gross comments? It’d score you a few brownie points and make them more likely to agree with you being the one keeping an eye on me while I’m home.”

“I kill people, Sera, you’re lucky they let me pick you up from school,” he reminded her, voice muffled with his lips grazing over her throat. He wanted to leave a mark but he knew that would raise way too many red flags and Jericho was just looking for  a way to prove that Chance wasn’t anywhere near a decent older brother.

“Besides, if I start killing your classmates, your dad will only be more displeased with me coming around at all.”

“Not the worst thing I’ve ever been called,” Teddy murmured, a doe-eyed smile on his face that gave away no clue to his potential to be something deserving of those names and worse.

“I can live with that.”

Her soft smile gave way to a certain sadness and she wrapped her arms around him. It bothered her that no one was willing to give him enough of a chance to see just how sweet and gentle he was. 

“…I love you.”
