It was little moments like these that made Jayne forget about the worries, for a short while, at least. Long enough though that Jayne wished he could just freeze everything in them so that they wouldn’t change and bring with them the inevitable heartbreak neither of them could avoid.
Of course, there were some possibilities potentially available, but they were largely only a temporary solution, buying him a little more time, but at the same time bringing their own complications, especially those that his scars would make extremely problematic.
It was easy to pick up on the subtle shift in mood and it made him ache a little. There wasn’t a whole lot he could do to keep this forever and he knew there wasn’t a guarantee of Jayne getting a second chance with his memories intact, but Xander was, for the time being, okay with the idea of having to fall in love with him all over again in another life.
