Rabbit wasn’t sure what was worse. The barrage of information pertaining to things he’d had no belief in whatsoever until Vega crashed into his life, or the gnawing feeling that came with knowing that he wasn’t being told the whole truth.
He understood Vega’s reasoning for it to some extent. Any human would find it hard to adjust to the sudden revelation that things considered the stuff of fiction were actually fact, so it was considerably riskier with someone of Rabbit’s disposition, so it was logical to hold back on some things so he didn’t get overloaded. That Rabbit was smart enough to realise when he wasn’t being given the whole story though caused its own set of conflicts on that front.
“So what would happen if I tried to cross it? Does it work both ways, or just from the outside?”
“You could cross outside of the barrier but you wouldn’t be able to get back in without someone less human. Not unless I put a loophole in the spellwork for you and that requires a small amount blood. No more than a finger prick like gettin’ tested for diabetes.”
He was quick to explain how small of an amount of blood it took, not wanting to make the kid panic.
“It ain’t meant to force people to stay, just to keep people that might mean harm out.”
“I’d be more’n happy to explain everything about this place to you in time, down to it the bottoms of who, what, and where, but Vega doesn’t want to overwhelm ya and, honestly, I can’t blame the girl there. This place is a lot even for some non-humans.”
Hypnos was certain that nothing could be all that bad compared to his recent experiences at the hands of mere mortals, especially when it came to the children of two of the people he loved the most. After all, Hypnos had been around for thousands of years, and he was more than used to hearing about even the most horrific deeds of some of the more violent and unhinged family members, and since neither Moros or Hecate were that way inclined to start with, Hypnos had no doubt that that was not an issue with the twins.
“They are not creepy in the same way some of Acacia or Konis’s bloodlines are, but they aren’t easy to handle either. Even Cayden says they make his skin crawl and we both know our boy is an openly affectionate one.”
It was the best way he could think of to put things but even that didn’t do the twins justice.
