Tucker’s comment had Matt smirking broadly, his earlier worries briefly forgotten about now that they were on a much more casual and comfortable topic of conversation.
“If it makes you feel better, I think you’ve seen my ass more times than anyone I’ve ever had a crush on too,” he teased, a hint of playful sarcasm in his tone.
“Careful, I think that generally equates to an engagement in our family,” he quipped, immediately letting things fall into something familiar and safe feeling. Matt was, after all, the person he got on the absolute best with.
“It wasn’t that important.” Heather sighed. “Their dad was from a really bad time in my life. When ever he and I are together my humanity isn’t exactly on and he’s not exactly human. I didn’t want to bother you with it.” Heather had always been the more closed off one out of the pair, she knew everything about Britt yet the vampire almost never spoke about herself.
“You have kids and it wasn’t important? Are you fucking serious right now?” To say she was livid was almost an understatement and she sort of understood why Chance’s hands shook some times. A large part of her wanted nothing more than to throttle the woman standing before her.
