Pheromone signatures didn’t lie, and Bailey could smell the fear coming off of the other even if they didn’t want it to. Instead of arguing, he simply gave the other a look that said “Sure I don’t”, enough to convey that the other couldn’t hide the truth no matter what words came out of his mouth.
He wasn’t going to keep poking the wasp’s nest. If there was one thing that was true, it was that he didn’t know if the other male would resort to violence if Bailey kept pressing the situation, so he backed off, leaving the other with the option to decide what he wanted to do next.
He was pacing back and forth at this point, looking exactly like the caged pup he was at heart. He hated the other at the moment, despised having what he already knew on a deep level pointed out. It made it harder for him to pretend he actually had a home.
“They’d kill you too,” he whimpered, hating just how weak he sounded.
